Florence is known to be the best city for art and culture as it housed the most revolutionary men in history, including Michelangelo, Leonardo DaVinci, and Galileo. Although tourists run rampant in the main museums and churches, the city has retained its historic culture. A variety of shops, galleries, and restaurants border the river and showcase the craftsmanship of Florence’s finest. The city is also filled with history, monuments, and museums. In particular, the Piazza della Signoria and Loggia de’ Lanzi was breathtaking as it featured many beautiful statues, including a David replica, a statue of Perseus, and a Fountain of Neptune. I also loved visiting El Duomo (Florence Cathedral), the Uffizi Gallery,  Ponte Vecchio, Galleria dell’Accademia, the Basilica di Santa Croce, and the Boboli Gardens. El Duomo and the Basilica di Santa Croce are very intricate and decorated with white and green accents.

Ponte Vecchio, or the “Old Bridge,” is the most ancient and photographed bridge in Florence. This bridge connects the city center with the district of Oltrarno, which is separated by the Arno River. After visiting the bridge, I’d recommend walking up to Piazzale Michelangelo , an old 19th-century piazza with a bronze replica of Michelangelo’s David, to see a panoramic view of the city. There’s also a great dining spot nearby at the Ristorante La Loggia del Piazzale Michelangelo. When I visited with my friends, this restaurant had great food and a cool ambiance. 

The statue of David by Michaelangelo in the Galleria dell’Accademia is a famous sculpture to stop and see in Florence.

Here are some photos from the Uffizi Gallery. This art gallery is captivating as it is filled with Renaissance art. In fact, its the most visited art gallery in all of Italy – the art, ceilings, and sculptures are amazing! According to Giorgio Vasari, the architect who began to construct the Uffizi in 1560, artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo gathered at this gallery to relax and admire its beauty.
