1. Energy News Network

Launched in 2010, the Energy News Network is a nonprofit website dedicated to covering the transition to a clean energy economy. The website highlights people who are committed to building a better world in the Midwest, Southeast, Northeast, and West. In 2015, the Energy News Network became a member of the Institute for Nonprofit News.




2. Union of Concerned Scientists

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is a nonprofit science advocacy organization based in the United States. UCS’s motto is “We use science to make change happen.” According to the organization’s founding document, the Union of Concerned Scientists was formed to “initiate a critical and continuing examination of governmental policy in areas where science and technology are of actual or potential significance.”



3. Scientific American

The Scientific American focuses on awe-inspiring advances in science and technology. Today, it is the oldest continuously published monthly magazine in the United States, reaching more than 10 million people each month. Founded in May 1846, the Associated Press was created by five daily newspapers in New York City to share the cost of transmitting news of the Mexican–American War. Today, the Associated Press is a source of independent journalism from across the world. Headquartered in New York City, the AP has earned 54 Pulitzer Prizes since the award was established in 1917.

BBC News is an international 24-hour news and information channel that delivers impartial and independent news. Based in the United Kingdom, the BCC is the world’s leading public service broadcaster. The BBC has 3,500 staff, 2,000 of whom are journalists. Their website, BBC News Online, has about 14 million global readers every month.

Founded over 167 years ago, Reuters is a global news agency that employs journalists from all over the world. Each year, Reuters delivers 2M+ unique news stories, 129K+ video stories, and 100 investigative reports. Reuters also provides comprehensive coverage of the energy industry and environment, including oil and gas markets, climate policy, and innovations in solar and wind power.



7. Sierra Club Magazine

The Sierra Club is the United States’ oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental group. The Sierra Magazine publishes award-winning journalism dedicated to showcasing and protecting the natural world. Today, this non-profit activist organization has 3.8 million members.




8. Earth Island Journal

Founded in1982 by David Brower, Earth Island Journal is a Berkeley-based non-profit group that supports activism around environmental issues. This journal contains investigative pieces and publicizes environmental grassroots movements that are rarely found in other environmental magazines.



9. EDF Voices: People on the planet

Headquartered in New York City, the Environmental Defense Fund is one of the world’s leading environmental organizations. Guided by science and economics, EDF’s blog features insights from staff experts on issues related to global warming, ecosystem restoration, oceans, and human health.



10. Environmental & Energy Study Institute

Established in 1984, the EESI is an independent, non-profit organization that aims to educate Congress on energy efficiency and renewable energy to advance clean energy policies. The EESI was founded after the Environmental Study Conference, a bipartisan and bicameral Congressional caucus that launched in 1975. Today, EESI focuses specifically on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ground-level air pollution, improving public health, energy security, and economic development opportunities, and increasing use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
